Misfit Mindset LLC, a Georgia limited liability company. This page is the Fee Schedule. It is part of the Terms of Use.
Tips are final and are not refunded. Stripe's fee comes off first. Negative Space keeps 10% of what remains. The creator is paid the rest on the 1st of the month.
The buttons
A tip is $2.00, $5.00, $10.00, $25.00. The button is the amount the card is charged. We do not add a fee on top of the button.
The order of the cut
- Stripe's fee comes off the tip first. We record the fee Stripe reports on that charge. A typical US card is 2.9% plus 30¢. An international card, or a card Stripe has to convert, costs more. The recorded fee is the one that counts.
- Negative Space keeps 10% of what remains, rounded to the nearest cent.
- The creator gets the rest.
A typical US card
| Tip | Stripe | Negative Space | Creator |
|---|---|---|---|
| $2.00 | $0.36 | $0.16 | $1.48 |
| $5.00 | $0.45 | $0.46 | $4.09 |
| $10.00 | $0.59 | $0.94 | $8.47 |
| $25.00 | $1.03 | $2.40 | $21.57 |
Those Stripe numbers are the typical US card fee, so you can see the shape of the cut before you pay. If Stripe charges a different fee on the actual card, the creator's share and our share are recalculated from that fee. The receipt uses the recorded numbers.
When the creator is paid
Stripe deposits the creator's share to the creator's bank on the 1st of the month, or the next business day when the 1st is not a banking day. The share moves into the creator's Stripe account once Stripe releases the card payment. A payment Stripe is still holding on the 1st waits for the next 1st. The payouts page is the setup and the balance.
What the cut is for
The 10% is operating money: Stripe, the domain, and the machine. It is not a prize pool. Challenges do not pay cash out of tips.
Reversals
We do not refund tips. If a bank reverses one anyway, the creator's share is cancelled if it has not been sent, or deducted from the next payout if it has. The dispute fee Stripe charges, currently $15.00 for most US card disputes, is deducted from the creator's next payout. The fee on the actual dispute is the one we record. A negative balance carries forward. See the Refund Policy.
Supporter contributions
Back the archive takes one-time contributions of $5, $10, $25, or $50. A contribution is not a tip. All of it, less Stripe's fee, goes to Misfit Mindset LLC, a Georgia limited liability company to run Negative Space. None of it goes to a creator, and it does not change the tip split above. Contributions are final and are not refunded.
