Refund Policy
The short version
- Tips are final. The wallpaper was already free, and you confirm the tip is final before you pay.
- Supporter contributions are final too.
- If a bank reverses a tip, the creator's share and Stripe's dispute fee come out of that creator's next payout.
This summary is here to help you read the page. The full text below is what applies.
Misfit Mindset LLC, a Georgia limited liability company. This is the Refund Policy. It is part of the Terms of Use.
Tips are final
Negative Space does not refund tips. A tip is voluntary, and the wallpaper can already be downloaded free without one. Before your card is charged, the tip form asks you to confirm that the tip is final, and the Stripe page repeats it.
There is no refund button on this site, and we do not ask Stripe to return tips. We can't make exceptions, so please don't email [email protected] asking for a tip refund.
What we cannot switch off
A cardholder can still dispute a charge with their bank. Stripe does not let a merchant take that right away. Someone with access to our Stripe account could also move money by hand. Our rule is that we do not. Each tip is marked non-refundable on the payment itself, so the record sits on the charge.
If a bank reverses a tip
If we have not yet sent the creator's share of that tip, it is cancelled. If we have, it comes out of the creator's next payout. The dispute fee Stripe charges us comes out of that payout too. It is currently $15.00 for most US card disputes, or the fee Stripe reports on that dispute. A negative balance carries forward against later tips. We do not send a separate invoice for it.
Stripe does not return its processing fee when a charge is reversed. That fee stays with Stripe.
Supporter contributions
A contribution through Back the archive is final in the same way. It goes to running the site, not to a creator, and we do not refund it. If a bank reverses one, the Supporter badge that came with it is removed.
Downloads
Downloads are free, so there is nothing to refund. A tip that was free to skip, or a change of mind afterwards, is not a reason for an exception. The fee you saw before you paid is the fee that was charged.
